Picnic 2003

In the afternoon of the 5th of July, many Surf Pines residents and guests assembled at the park for the traditional community picnic. Tables and chairs were set up and a barbecue was available for grilling. Community Relations committee organizers and members who attended brought many delicious offerings.

Starting at 4 p.m. after the meeting, a few people assembled at the park for the traditional community picnic. Tables and chairs were set up and a barbecue was available for grilling. Community relations committee organizers and members who attended brought many luscious offerings.

Turnout, however, was light: some 16 adults and half a dozen young children conversed, played, and enjoyed the plentiful food and drink. Accompanying photos show that the brisk breeze and coolish evening did not dampen spirits. The committee regrets that more members did not participate; as such, events provide a good way to get to know new neighbors and to promote a feeling of community. Your suggestions on ways of making social events more appealing are always welcome. Just call Tom Smith with your ideas.
