                                                          Holiday Party 2003

Saturday  December 13, 2003

Committee chair Norma Keever reports:

The Surf Pines Annual Holiday Party was declared a success by the 46 guests, a record number.  Guests attributed the success of the party to the live music, the delicious food, and the gracious hosts.

A local quartet, Fourtissimo, traveling from room to room during the party, entertained guests with both holiday music and non-holiday music.

The appetizer table, the dinner table, and the dessert table overflowed with contributions from guests, food that was not only delightfully presented but also absolutely delicious.  (Throughout the evening, guests traded recipes—a good sign of good food.)

And the hosts, Alan and Karen Beck, were certainly gracious in opening their home to so many of their neighbors.

Here are Roger Masse's pictures of the event:

Ruth Baum, Phyllis Von Weller, Carolyn & Bill Switzenberg, and Katie Weber greet one another.   More guests arrive.   Ed Zuelke, Gene Keever, and Inarose Zuelke chat.
George Von Weller, Bonny Groshong, Patrick Kelley, and Norma Keever check the turkey. Norma cuts the turkey as guests wait for the food. George, Ruth, and Phyllis sample the delicious food.
The Fourtissimo Quartet performs. Holiday guests eat and chat.     Norma shares a food secret with Sally Allegaert.
Ken Weber and Gene Bourquein listen to the quartet. Connie Bourquein, Diane and David Nikula enjoy their conversation and meal.   Nancy Wilcox shares a joke with Patrick Kelley.
Lu Thornton and Valerie Krohn compliment each other's Christmas outfits. Harley Bristol, Bill Krohn, Al Beck, and Gene Keever share motorcycle news. Sally, Burr, Bill, Tom, and Valerie enjoy the party.
Karen asks Jim and Barbara Damon what she is going to do with all the extra food. Committee co-chair Norma Keever proclaims the party a success. Party hosts Al and Karen relax after the last guest leaves.
